Default Segway Key Software - Request for Beta Testers

Hi guys,

I just uploaded a new version of my Segway key utility. It's now a much easier-to-use Windows application -- far less cryptic than the DOS-based version before. You can download Segway Key Manager at http://www.candlelighttechnology.com...gwayKeyManager

The program includes support for various options that are in the Segway key specs, but are not necessarily supported in all production versions of Segways. Also, since I only have 12.0 software, I can't test out the 14.1 features.

Please let me know if you encounter any bugs...

Thanks!
Joseph

Sorry for the rather simplistic question, where do I get the hardware for programming the keys, is it from ibutton direct?

Regards Isidore

If I just want to buy the bare minimum hardware, probably some kind of ibutton reader/writer with serial or USB connection, what should I expect to pay? I checked ebay, but apart from ibuttons couldn't find anything.

Great to see Joseph (Toybuilder) posting!

It also looks like there will be lots of opportunities to get custom keys in Long Beach!!!

If you want a programming adapter that works on USB, I suggest getting the DS9490R USB Adapter plus the DS1420D-DR8 Bluedot receptor (button holder).

I have special ordered them before for a client and I still have 2 sets in stock. I sell them for $50.

If you want to get off a little cheaper, and you have a built-in serial port on your computer (not a USB Serial adapter), you can use the DS1413 ibutton holder. You will need to make some modifications to holder to make the contact with a mounted ibutton (i.e., Segway key). I sell the modified DS1413's for $25, but currently don't have any in stock.

You can order the above parts from the Dallas/Maxim store -- https://shop.maxim-ic.com/storefront/welcome.do --- The only problem is their long lead time (as others here will often attest to). I've waited up to 3 months for parts from them!!!

Sort of. The program will let you program the key to 15 mph, but the Segway will still limit you at 12.5 mph max...

The key doesn't directly control the Segway... It just identifies you and informs the Segway of your operational preferences.
